Trinity Episcopal Church Begins the 2018-19 Concert Series

The 2018-19 concert series at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mattoon is “100 plus One”.   The first concert in the series is “Old and New, Spiritual and Blue”.  This concert of music celebrating life and joy will be presented by Paula Pugh Romanaux- organ, Ruth Sieber Johnson- soprano, and Melissa Ferguson- piano, on Sunday afternoon, September 23rd at 4:00 pm.

Listeners will share in music including songs by Leonard Bernstein, Walter Pelz, Robert Boury, and Richard Shulman.  Traditional spirituals and hymn arrangements will feature the 101-year-old Reuter Pipe Organ, enjoying a second century of life at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mattoon.

Ms. Pugh Romanaux is a graduate of MacMurray College in Jacksonville.  Her extensive experience has her studying and performing around the world, and it is wonderful that she has decided to come back to central Illinois.  She currently serves as organist at the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

Ruth Sieber Johnson lives in Asheville, North Carolina, where she is the Executive Director of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. Collaborating at the piano is Melissa Ferguson of Mattoon who is a graduate of Millikin University and is the accompanist at the First United Methodist Church in Mattoon.

Plan to come and join in an afternoon of love expressed through music.  A reception will follow in the undercroft of the church.
