Father Bruce DeGooyer was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Martins on October 4, the feast of St Francis of Assisi, at St Matthew’s, Bloomington.
Dear Fr. DeGooyer, A belated congratulations on your ordination to the priesthood. I had a friend in California back in the 60’s with the same name. we attended sacred heart school in salinas Ca. My friend was also Episcopalian even though he went to the Catholic school. I remember going to an Episcopal church with Bruce for a choir rehersal and was impressed with the vibrant blue in the stained glass windows, so different from the colors in the Catholic churches. To this day I still refer to that shade of blue as episcopal blue. I think you are he.
I am attempting to reply to the previous comment left on this page by Tom Farris… Tom, I am just now (7/8/2022) seeing your comment and am sorry it took so long. Thank you for your congratulations! I am now in the Diocese of Hawaii. I don’t find an email address for you, but if you do receive this reply, please touch base with me at (redacted). Yes, we were both at Sacred Heart School in Salinas in the early-mid 60s, I remember you very well. Blessings, Bruce
