Please congratulate Father Dale Coleman on his 10th anniversary of serving St. George’s Parish. His anniversary was on June 1st. You are highly appreciated by the Diocese of Springfield.

Toddhall has a New Director!
The rector and vestry of St. George’s proudly announce the appointment of Kevin Korte as the new executive director of Toddhall. For fifteen years, Kevin was program director and facility manager at the Belleville YMCA. He also managed the YMCA Lake Retreat Center. He was director of independent supported living at Sunnyhill Inc., and has also worked as a substitute teacher and teaching assistant in area schools. He holds a BA in psychology from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville and a Certification in Special Education from Saint Louis University. Kevin, his wife Becky and son Stephen are members of St. George’s.

Saint George’s Cursillo Community
Cursillo XXXV was held at Toddhall from June 22-25. Parishioner Cindy Lynk served as rector for what turned out to be a highly successful weekend. Twelve candidates participated along with a team of thirty-eight Cursillistas, some of whom are parishioners of Saint George’s. Our parish administrator, Henry Evans, led the music throughout the weekend, which was glorious! This event received high compliments from many diocesan clergy and laity.

Saint George’s/Saint Mark Food Pantry Teams with Scott AFB
Airmen from Scott Air Force Base will join our Food Pantry Volunteers in distributing food and personal care products to Belleville’s needy. Next week, this joint venture begins on a trial basis.  If the collaboration succeeds, both groups may team up for future efforts.

Convoy of Hope/East St Louis
On July 22, the Convoy of Hope will host a social services event at the Jackie Joyner Kersee Center, East Saint Louis. The J.J.K. Center will be filled with tents, music, social service providers, health services, a hair salon, a professional photo booth, food and shoe distribution centers, and a special “Kids’ Zone.” Volunteers from St. George’s Episcopal church and  St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, O’Fallon will pack and distribute free groceries. Tom and Judy Skaff are spearheading the coordination of parish participation.
