We were afraid there would be no church services anywhere in the Darrow Deanery this morning, but the forecasted freezing rain never materialized, and there was a quite typical congregation at St Thomas’, Glen Carbon. I presided and preached at the liturgy, and fielded questions about parish finances and mission during the coffee hour.m Then a private confab with the Vicar, Bishop Tony Clavier, in his living room (along with his three dogs, two birds, and unseen cat). We headed north around 1:15, and, with a stop for lunch in Litchfield, another one in Springfield to leave some vestments in the office, and a third for gas in Lexington, we arrived in our Chicago garage right at 7:00.
