Books for Seminarians

The Church Periodical Club is an independent, affiliated organization of the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church, dedicated to the worldwide Ministry of the Printed Word and to the Promotion of Christian Mission.  The Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Springfield join this ministry by gathering donations from the Eucharistic Communities of the diocese to help defray the cost of books for our seminarians. We thank you for your donations.

We would like you to know that any member of the Anglican Communion can apply for a grant to purchase written materials for children’s or church programs. More information including applications is available at on the CPC website, and on this pdf, as well as the current quilt fundraiser.

I have been a member of the Episcopal faith for many years as a retired teacher at 70. I was always torn between teaching and the priesthood. I’ve read the Bible numerous times and I wanted to read more about the teachings of Jesus. I thought by getting a list of recommended books for seminarians would direct me to further reading. If you can suggest a book for me to read, I would be most appreciative. I am retired and read scripture every day. I would like to teach people about my readings in the way I taught children. It’s something I want to do for the rest of my life. Thank you for reading this.
