As part of the theological formation of two persons currently in the ordination process, Bishop Martins will conduct four two-hour seminars on pastoral liturgy. With the agreement of the two postulants involved, these seminars are open to whomever would like to attend, whether lay or ordained.
The focus of these events will be on practical knowledge and application, to help attendees to competently plan and lead liturgical events using the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. They will cover material that includes the theoretical and historical assumptions of the Prayer Book, the calendar, the Daily Office, the Holy Eucharist, and the pastoral offices of baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
All four seminars will be held on Saturdays: July 11, August 1, September 19, and October 24 from 10:00 am- 12 Noon. The first of these occasions, of course, will need to take place via Zoom. That may also apply to the subsequent dates, but … we’ll have to see.
There is no charge. The only required resource is a Prayer Book, though a Hymnal 1982 would also be helpful to have at hand. You can register for the October 24 webinar here. He will then send you a link to the Zoom meeting.
