The Rt. Rev. Albert William Hillestad

The Rt. Rev. Peter H. Beckwith issued the following statement on the death of the Right Reverend Albert William Hillestad, Eighth Bishop of Springfield

Springfield Diocesan Family:

We regret to inform you of the death of the Rt. Rev. Albert William Hillestad, Eighth Bishop of Springfield.  Bishop Hillestad died on Thursday, 14 June, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.  He was consecrated on 19 February 1972 and served as Bishop until 27 February 1981.

Please remember Albert and his family in your prayers. 

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 South Second Street, Springfield, Illinois.  Interment will be in the Cathedral Columbarium. The times and dates of both are pending and will be announced when they become available.

May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.
