v
For the Human Family
(top)
O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us
through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family;
take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the
walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our
struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your
good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your
heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
v
For the Mission of the Church
(top)
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the

upon all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of
love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the
reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we,
reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to
the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen.
v
For our
Country
(top)
Almighty God, who hast given us this good
land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always
prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy
will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure
manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and
arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into
one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and
tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name
we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and
peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show
forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of
prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble,
suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Fill them with faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness.
Knit together in constant affection those who, in holy wedlock, have been

faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
v

your power to possess me, and gracefully accept your healing; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

to your will; and help me always to believe that what happens to me here
is of little account if you hold me in eternal life, my Lord and my God.
Amen.

the refreshing of soul and body: Grant me this gift, I pray; keep me in

silence I may enjoy the blessed assurance of your love; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
In the Morning
This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will
bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to
stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit
quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do
nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and
give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.

v
A Prayer
attributed to St. Francis
(top)
Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there
is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is
discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we
may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to
understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life. Amen.
